What ever happened to true research?

I remember when the only things on T.V. about Bigfoot were shows that told stories about the 4 horsemen and and a few others and their different ways and theories on collecting evidence of Sasquatch. Some of us still enjoy going back and watching old episodes of "In search of" but I find more and more that if you mention names like Krantz or Byrne people say who? these are some of the people who paved the way for people who actually go out and do research and are very respected in this field today.

It seems like all that people are interested today are making money at any cost whether it be hoaxing or trash talking or just building people up who will fall for a big disappointment. For whatever reason people need to build things up for at least a month before they release a five second clip of something that might be a Sasquatch but then again might be a tree stump.I realize that times have changed and people want to make a few bucks off of what they come up with and I'm alright with that but when people started demanding NDA's for a peak at their earth shattering evidence that never seems to come out things hit an all time low.

Some of the most respectable people I know in this field stay away from the drama and do boots on the ground research and share it openly when I think of this I think of a researcher from Alberta that goes by SasquaiNation. He does have a YouTube channel but does no huge build up to his finds he just puts it out there and never tries to make things seem to be more than they are.In other cases people who are very much respected like Randles,Cutino,Brock,Barackman and so on that are also boots on the ground researchers that aside from Barackman are not constantly in the "news" but usually if they are it is because their find is worth talking about. That was not meant to be disrespectful to Cliff I only said aside from Barackman because he is on T.V. but as a researcher on his own he is very respected and rightfully so.

The problem here is when anyone comes up with a new idea such as Dr.Meldrum they have insults hurled at them by people who sit behind there computer and just wait to pounce on anything because they obviously know more than people who actually put more thought into this tan how to make fun of someones name or say things like Lame.Next and any other four letter word their little minds can come up with. What I really miss is the open sharing of information and even though the crowd was smaller they were interested in more than all of the hype and drama.I know sometimes things are held back until the project is complete but that's alright by me if people want to make sure things are as clear as possible before they release it.

I say to those who are so critical of others get off your ass even if it's only on weekends and come up with something half as good as some of these guys do.It seems to me that people want results as long as someone else does the work and God forbid someone try something new.Last week when I was on my friend Sharon Lee's show we talked about this and the thing is people have the right to their opinion about certain people and how they research or do their show or whatever but I will tell you I have only spoke to a select few that can make you feel as comfortable as Sharon does and nobody got bashed the whole time we were on air and that is pretty rare.

If you are interested in the subject and not the drama I would suggest checking out different researchers and if there is not a lot of controversy around them check them out it is well worth the time to weed out the ones who are in this for the wrong reasons and enjoy the talent and dedication of those who are.I know I have not listed everyone here but the real ones know who they are.As far as the rest, they know who they are too.

  1. Great post, I agree that research is mostly horrible television garbage these days. I was never able to grow up watching shows about the 4 horsemen and such, but I know about them and I wish that it could be like the good old days. Back then, people would track these animals on horses and with guns in complete silence. These days, people look for them by running around and uttering howls. It's sad.

  3. Spot on, mate. As they say down under. I have several boots on the ground researchers I keep in touch with. These are the few I will accept their word on evidence found. Because they take the time to make sure as much is possible is collected and released. They also are good to learn from.

    1. Yes,, well said Jim.If people would take the time to listen and learn when it comes to real research rather than the drama we might actually get somewhere.
